Notes: Renamed as the "Scots Hoose" (or "Scotch Hoose") in 1908, and as the "Spice of Life" in 1986. The rebuilt pub incorporated the "George" (on the same site) and the nearby "Thirteen Cantons" (see separate entry). The architectural engraving on the rebuilt pub itself also gives its name as just the "Cantons".
