Nag's Head Inn

Status: Closed and demolished
Address: Nags Head Buildings, 137 Borough High Street, SE1 (streetmap) (osm) (gmap) (bingmap) (streetview)
London borough: Southwark
Former name(s): Horse's Head [same site]
Former address: [or Nags Head Inn Yard, 137 Borough High Street, or 137 High Street]
[also listed as Nags Head Yard (1881)]
Nags Head Buildings, 102 Borough High Street [or 102 High Street] (1869)
Historical parish: Southwark St Saviour
Dates open: by 1542-at least 1895
Notes: Renamed as the "Nag's Head" in c1635. Nags Head Buildings (or Nags Head Inn Yard) no longer exists. Nags Head Alley is marked on Rocque's map of 1746. The write-up of the site in the Survey of London in 1950 implies it is still a going concern, although it doesn't show up in Post Office directories in the 20th century nor is it marked as a pub on Ordnance Survey maps after 1895.
